3 Juvenile Practical Jokes You May Enjoy

!±8± 3 Juvenile Practical Jokes You May Enjoy

I like humor. I like practical jokes. Most people do, often to the extent that they are even embarrassed over what they find funny. Let's be serious; a lot of humor and practical jokes are juvenile. This simply means they were funny when we were young, and they are still funny now unless we've gotten old and lost our sense our humor. Many of us will find our spouses have lost their humor for example. Here are 3 practical jokes I've enjoyed and still enjoy on occasion. These are classics that have withstood the test of time. Use them at your own risk of course, and remember that over done practical jokes are no longer funny.

1) Vaseline on the doorknob. It is invisible and nearly impossible to detect, but boy does it feel strange and gross when you grab that door knob. It also makes it tough to open the door! Beware that it's easy to forget you've vaselined the doorknob and get yourself. It's best to leave after application. To do it, put some vaseline on your finger, just a little is necessary, and wipe all over the doorknob. You can also vaseline other objects like toothbrush handles, coffecups, beer bottles, draw and refrigerator handles, and more, but the door knob is the classic.

2) The "Wet Willie." Slightly moisten your index finger with saliva. Get insert into and unsuspecting victim's ear with a slight twirling motion. You may optionally proudly exclaim "Wet Willie!" as you do this. Stealth is very important, as well as choosing a non violent victim. Dry Willies are probably safer as their is no potential exchange of bodily fluids, but you can also accomplish this with a maple syrup willie ir perhaps a mustard or ketchup willie.

3) Cold water over the shower door. This classic is easy to do. When someone is showering, sneak up and throw a glass of very cold water over the shower door. They will instantly notice and the juxtaposition of the warm shower water and the unexpected cold water will cause quite a shock and often confusion as well. The bigger the glass the bigger the effect. Ice is the water is not recommended as it may injure someone, but icing down the water to get it very cold works well. Don't find these funny? Your probably old and lost your sense of humor. Never found these funny? I'm very sorry for you.

How to Strengthen Your Singing Voice - Without Straining

!±8± How to Strengthen Your Singing Voice - Without Straining

Imagine walking out on stage as a hushed anticipation falls over the crowd. You mesmerize your audience by the raw power and beauty of your voice the moment you open your mouth. Singers who can belt out with power and control can draw enormous crowds and often command hefty fees. Developing this type of vocal strength takes more than just time and practice. It takes a careful application of proper technique and demanding exercise. If you try to force it prematurely, then you'll never experience the thrill of an effortless belt.

How do you know if you're ready for more advanced strengthening exercises?

If you are fluent in basic support techniques and can sing for half an hour or more with absolutely no discomfort, it's time to take on new vocal challenges. When working to increase your power, you should NEVER force it - for two reasons.

First - you obviously don't want to strain your voice.
Secondly, you don't need to force it.

Think of it this way. When you force it, you tighten all of the muscles in your throat, face and neck. You cut off your resonating chambers and give your sound less space to come out. Just imagine trying to get a steady stream of water out of a garden hose with a kink in it! With less space for your voice to spin and resonate, you'll sound weaker - not stronger. Do you really want to belt out with power and knock audiences dead? Then first, you must RELAX.

By loosening the muscles in your shoulders and especially around your throat, you open the door not just for more sound, but more control, beauty and resonance. Once you're relaxed and all warmed up, you can use mental imagery - a truly powerful and effective tool to help you get the voice you've always dreamed of.

The Steps To Take To Heat Your Pool With Solar Energy

!±8± The Steps To Take To Heat Your Pool With Solar Energy

Heating your swimming pool with solar power gathered from the sun is a great way to save money while keeping your swimming pool warm. The warmth you will reap from the sun depends on how deep your pool is, how much sun you get on a regular basis and how much money you want to put into purchasing the equipment needed to set up your own solar heating pool. You can buy black rubber hose at a pretty good price. As an alternate you can use black garden irrigation pipe as both of these black hoses have thin wall designs and this leads to quick heat transfer. Keep in mind that this type of pipe, which can be readily found in home supply stores, can kink up easily. Consider starting with 50-100 feet of pipe for your solar heating project.

Keep in mind, the more of the black hose that you use, the more water will flow through it and the warmer your pool will potentially become. When you're placing the pipes/hose set some parallel to each other as this will increase the amount of solar power you draw in - and store - from the sun. If your plan is to just purchase one long length of hose to use for the whole swimming pool, it might not be as efficient as you'd hoped and the water might not be as warm as you'd like.

If you have an in ground swimming pool, there will be a "hose bib" that runs around the side of the pool and is used to drain water. If your pool has this you can use it to collect the water through the hose and drain back into the pool - heated from the power of the sun. If you don't have the hose bib, you will want to purchase a small pump. The pump, which should work at a very slow speed, to and from the pool. Keep in mind, if the water isn't sitting in the hose, soaking up the sun, it won't do much to heat it before it's pumped back into the pool.

When you're in the process of figuring how much pipe to purchase or how to figure what the increase in temperature will be you will need to do some basic math and science experiments! Determine how long it takes your pipe to fill a one gallon milk carton or bucket and how many gallons of water your pool contains; once you've done this, measure the difference between the pool temperature and the temp of the water that's coming out of the hose. Still with me!? Now, subtract the temperature of the hose. With this method you can get an idea of how much of an impact you will be getting from your self-installed solar heating set up. As an example, if the difference is 10 degrees and your pool is 5,000 gallons, your solar system will add about .02 of a degree for each gallon of water that goes through the pipe.

Now, if you're wondering how long it will take to warm your pool by one degree-we're going to do some more math. Divide the number of seconds it takes to pump one gallon by the degree rise from your last mathematical equation. As an example, if it takes about 20 seconds to pump one gallon of water through your pipe system, it will take 10,000 seconds (about two and a half to three hours) to heat the water by one degree.

If you're looking to slow down or speed up the actual temperature of the water in the pool, you'll want to increase or decrease the speed with which the pump is forcing the water through.

Bottom line:

If you aren't using a thermal cover for your swimming pool, you will lose most of the momentum (heat) you've built up during the day. The best alternative to installing your hose solar system, you can add some solar panels to amp up the warming up of your pool water. If you're lucky and if you live in a warm climate, you might reap a five to 10 degree increase in your swimming pool's water temperature. The ideal water temperature for your swimming pool is between 80-85 degrees.

Pain Management: What Is Energy?

!±8± Pain Management: What Is Energy?

We will explore how our vital energy affects our sense of well-being. We will see how we can control this energy to reduce stress and pain.

What is this energy, and how can we access it?

Think of an electric light. When you flip a wall switch, a light goes on somewhere in the house. How did the energy get to the light bulb when you flipped the light switch?

As we are all aware, there are wires running through the wall, but you can't see them. We have similar energy circuits in our body. We call them meridians. They run throughout our body, but we can't see them. We can access them using our own energy switches by touching, massaging, or holding certain reflex points on the surface of our body.

If a garden hose has a kink in it, water may not be able to flow and many times the water may stop flowing. This is the same with the meridians. If there is a blockage/kink in the meridian system, energy may not be able to flow which may be one of the causes of our stress and pain and disease.

We speak about energy in the muscles. Every muscle is connected to a meridian and every meridian is connected to an organ. Working with the muscles we can work with the whole body energy system.

Acupuncturist use the meridians to access the 'Chi' Energy to help the energy flow.

We have all experienced pain in one way or another. Even though we don't like pain, pain can be our friend. Like the wall switch and the light bulb, when something is not working properly, our body sends us pain messages to alert us to that fact.

If the light bulb doesn't go on when we flip the switch, or if it keeps flickering on and off, we can say there is something wrong with the electric energy source for the light bulb or the switch.

Similarly if our body is sending a pain message, we know that there is something that needs attention to restore proper working order.

All too often we tend to ignore the pain or to cover it up with pain killing drugs. But instead we can balance the subtle energies that control the body and mind.

Pain maybe caused by some sort of stress. We can usually classify stress into one of four categories:

o Mental-emotional stress can be experienced in the home, the workplace, the playground, etc. and can result from both disturbing events and exciting, challenging events.

o Physical-structural stress includes muscle imbalances and postural problems and may often result from exertion or Repetitive Muscle Stress (RMS). Skeletal problems are usually derivative from muscle imbalances. Muscle pull bones, Bones do not pull on muscles.

o Chemical stress may result from what we eat, drink, or smoke, from lack of essential nutrients, and from environmental pollution.

o Energy stress may come from fluorescent lighting, electrical power lines and transformers, radio and radar transmission stations, etc.

Any of these stressors can upset the balance of the body energy systems that control and maintain our body's well-being.

These stresses can often be neutralized by balancing the energy flows in our bodies. Just as the electrical energy supply for a light bulb can be controlled by a remotely located wall switch, the energy flows in our body can be controlled by touching or massaging various points on our body. The scientific names for these points are:

o Neurolymphatic reflexes,

o Neurovascular reflex points, and

o Acupuncture points.

These points act much like circuit breakers. Rubbing or touching them "resets" the circuits and gets the energy flowing properly again.

These new energy-balancing exercises developed by Applied Kinesiology, Touch for Health and the Barhydts Educational Self-help Techniques makes use of these various types of vital energy control points.
